2024 Victoria Open Table Tennis Championships Rules and Regulations

Table of Contents


Dress Code

  • Non-marking indoor shoes.
  • No white jerseys or t-shirts are allowed.

Tournament Format

  • Round Robin + Knockout combination.
  • All the Open categories and Ladies RR and KO matches are 3 best of 5.
  • The Youth’s and Senior’s RR matches are 2 best of 3, KO- 3 best of 5.
  • The Final match format will depend on the time remaining.

The Balls

  • The official tournament balls: STIGA Perform ABS ***
  • Players will receive the balls with the scorecards before the match.
  • The balls need to be returned after the match.
  • Players need to bring their own balls for warming up. 

The Racquet

  • The blade and the rubber/s should be ITTF approved.
  • The surface of the covering material on a side of the blade, or of a side of the blade if it is left uncovered, shall be matt, black on one side, and of a bright colour clearly distinguishable from black and from the colour of the ball on the other. 

Match Time

  • Players should be present by the scheduled match time.
  • Warm-up time at the match- 5 min. maximum.
  • The match should begin as scheduled regardless of warm-up time if players are late.
  • If a player is late for the match by more than 10 min., his/her result will be marked as lost. 

Officials

Tournament officials are Victoria volunteers, who are authorized to manage the tournament and supervise the tournament rules and regulations. They are in charge of following the schedule, announcing players and matches, registering the scores and calculating the results. 


Umpiring and Rules

  • All matches need to comply with current ITTF rules.
  • All matches have to be umpired.
  • An umpire could be any player of the tournament or the person who knows Table Tennis rules.
  • It is expected that players inside of the group will umpire the other group mates’s matches. 

Penalties

  • If a player offends Table Tennis rules, he/she might be penalized by the umpire with a game point after two consecutive warnings. If the offence still continues, an official’s attention might be requested.
  • Violation of tournament rules and regulations noticed by officials might cause a warning with the following exclusion from the tournament. 

The School District Restrictions

  • Smoking is not permitted in or on any School property, including private vehicles on school property.
  • No foods or drink are permitted in the gymnasium.
  • Profane or insulting language is not permitted on school premises.
  • There are students with life-threatening allergies to peanuts in the school. Please ensure that you clean surfaces used after eating.
  • All participants are expected to remove all garbage incurred by their use of school property. 

Cancellation Policy

  • Any registration cancelled before the registration deadline is eligible for a full refund.
  • After the registration deadline, no refunds will be granted.
